Availability: Here at Jones Creek Farms we have very limited storage facilities. You will not find the terms "new crop" or "this years crop" used here. Most everything we sell was picked that day or the day before. It's as fresh as you can get!
With this in mind, the harvest dates are usually the only availability dates. The exception to this are varieties with special keeping qualities. We may keep some varieties for as long as 2 months! These special varieties are known for their long storage life and in some cases their qualities actually improve in storage. Rest assured, though, that the practices employed by the apple industry (which have ruined the apple industry) of storing apples for months upon months will never be used at Jones Creek Farms!
Quantities: Quite simply, quantities are hugely variable. Not even including mother natures hand in things we have differing amounts of trees of the varieties as well as varieties producing more or less fruit per tree than others.
Our varieties have been chosen to ripen over a several month period so please e-mail ahead if you have a favorite variety you are looking for.
Organic?
Although we strive to use mostly organic practices, we have chosen to certify only some of our products. The reasons why we grow both organic and non-organic are many but usually on a particular product it boils down to sustainability being more important to us than the government rules of certification. If we feel that we can provide a product as certified organic and still fall within our practice of sustainable farming then we will do that. Otherwise we feel that farming in a sustainable manner is more important than certification.
